THE DESIGN

The Digital Doomsday Clock is a unique expression of an idea first used by The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. Their Atomic Doomsday Clock is an analog indicator of the looming threat of nuclear annihilation. The closer to midnight the time, the stronger the threat.

Now the idea is applied to the cause of freedom of electronic communication and information. The digital clock is the natural choice to measure the threat to cyber-rights. And so the Digital Doomsday Clock was born: an LCD indicator of the intensity of the struggle between freedom and repression in the digital world. The closer to midnight the time, the more intense the threat to our freedom.

In the true spirit of the Internet, everyone has input in the time on the clock. Just follow the Clock Settings link and fill in the form. To let other people know what time it is, Stamp Your Site with the Digital Doomsday Clock. Different sizes and types are available. Just follow the instructions. Spread the word.

Let's see if we can turn back the clock.
